BUILD (Better Understanding of Interstitial Lung Disease) is an educational initiative led from the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Amrita Hospital, Kochi. This policy explains what information the BUILD mobile app and this website handle, and why. We collect as little as possible.

In short: BUILD has no user accounts. We do not ask for your name, phone number, email address or health information, and we do not sell or share personal data.

Information kept only on your device

  • Whether you chose Healthcare Professional or Patient / Caregiver.
  • Your quiz answers, your notification preferences and which notifications you have seen.
  • A copy of the latest BUILD content, so the app works offline.

Values you enter in the BUILD Score are used only to show the result on screen. They are not saved or sent anywhere. Deleting the app removes all of this information.

Information sent to BUILD

  • Anonymous quiz votes. When you answer a Quiz Corner case, the app sends your chosen option with a random identifier created on your device, so each device is counted once. We store only a one-way hash of that identifier. It is not linked to your name, phone number or any account, and is used only to show how all users answered once a case is revealed.
  • Push notifications (only if you allow them). If you allow notifications, the app sends a push token issued by Expo/Google/Apple, your chosen role and your topic preferences (for example, new quiz cases or MDM reminders), so we can send the alerts you asked for. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your phone's settings; tokens that stop working are deleted.
  • Content requests. Like any website or app, our server receives standard technical information (such as IP address and device type) when content is downloaded. This is used to run and secure the service and is not used to identify you.

Links to other services

MDM recordings and videos open on YouTube, and live webcasts may open on RespiTalk CME or similar platforms. Booking calls go to the hospital appointment desk. These services have their own privacy policies, which apply when you use them. Embedded YouTube videos on this website use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.

Clinical material

All cases, images and videos used in BUILD are de-identified and shared with consent, for education only.

Children

BUILD is intended for adults and healthcare professionals and is not directed at children.

Security and retention

Data sent to BUILD is transmitted over encrypted connections and kept only as long as needed for the purposes above. Anonymous quiz votes are kept with the case they belong to; push tokens are deleted when they stop working or when notifications are turned off.

Changes

We will update this page, and the app store privacy answers, before adding anything that collects more data.
