• HRCT scan: a detailed CT scan of the chest. It shows the pattern and extent of lung involvement.
  • Lung function test (spirometry, FVC): you blow into a machine. It measures how much air your lungs can hold and is used to follow your disease over time.
  • DLCO: measures how well oxygen passes from your lungs into your blood. You breathe in a test gas and hold your breath for a few seconds.
  • 6-minute walk test: you walk for six minutes while your oxygen level is checked. It shows how your lungs cope with activity.
  • Blood tests: look for autoimmune conditions and check the safety of your medicines.
  • Echocardiogram: a heart scan to check pressure in the lung blood vessels.
  • Bronchoscopy or biopsy: needed only in some patients when the diagnosis is not clear.
Bring your old scans and reports to every visit. Comparing them over time helps your doctor a lot.
