No. ILD cannot spread from one person to another.

Can the scarring be reversed?
Established scarring usually cannot be reversed. Some inflammatory types of ILD improve with treatment, and antifibrotic medicines can slow scarring.
Will I need oxygen?
Not everyone does. Your team will check your oxygen levels at rest, on walking and sometimes during sleep.
Can I exercise?
Yes — staying active helps. Increase activity gradually, according to the plan advised by your healthcare team.
Does ILD run in families?
Some types can. Tell your doctor if anyone in your family has had lung scarring.
Can I travel?
Usually yes, with planning. Talk to your doctor before flying, especially if you use oxygen.
